Q & A: When will new Buzzirk Mobile phones be available?

We are going to be answering some of the frequently asked questions about this plan and the phones that are available which take advantage of all the new features that come standard (a lot of the features, shown here, only work if you buy a Buzzirk Mobile phone, which have special software to take advantage of those features).

Yes, you can use your existing phone by purchasing a Buzzirk Mobile SIM card, which will give you Unlimited Everything (minutes, data, SMS messaging, etc.) but there are a TON of other features (like 6-way Video Conferencing on your phone) that require a Buzzirk Mobile phone.

A previous post here shows the different phones, and a common question being asked is:

“New Phones and service starts July 1st. To make this controlled. We will first open the orders to Triple Diamonds, Then Double Diamonds, then Diamonds, then Gold or above then the rest of the member base. We have to do this to keep a consistent rollout that is not a mass rush. Then all members wishing to sell the service have to go through an approved online training or ceritified training seminars around the country that will be hosted by Globalverge. A schedule will come out soon. These trainings will begin in late July and run through August. Once trained a member can qualify and receive their sales site to sell outside the member base to retail customers”

Buzzirk Mobile Launch Details

So, here it is July 1, 2009 – the official Launch Date of Zer01 and Buzzirk Mobile’s Unlimited Mobile-over-IP Plan.

If you are wondering why you can’t find a way to sign up, that’s because the launch is going to be in STAGES, and it will actually be sometime late July/early August before the PUBLIC will be able to get this service.

In the mean time, only members of the company and its resellers will be able to sign-up.

The Next iPhone Killer?

Yeah, yeah – we’ve heard this a million times now (well, maybe 5 times) – the next iPhone killer.  First it was…hmmm…..let’s see here….geez, that was so long ago I can’t even remember (Anyone remember which phone hit the news as the original iPhone Killer?  Let me know).

Next it was Google Android – not so much a phone as a mobile phone OS to challenge the iPhone OS.  Hardly made a dent.

Then came the Blackberry storm.  Yawn.

Then the Palm Pre.  Funny, but a few days after the much-hyped Palm Pre launch,  Apple announced the iPhone 3G S and sold 1 million of those suckers in the first 24 hours.  The whole weekend of Palm Pre’s introduction netted 100K phones sold according to most stats. Doesn’t seem like the iPhone has much of a challenger there either!

I’m sure I’m omitting several other phones that have been announced as ‘the next iPhone killer’ over the past year or so, but who cares.  Have ANY of these phones REALLY challenged the iPhone?

Nope.  And it isn’t likely to happen for a  number of reasons which I’ll let the pundits that write about such things explain.

Zer01, Buzzirk Mobile and the iPhone

Another question that has come up prior to the launch of the upcoming Zer01 and Buzzirk Mobile Unlimited Everything Plan using the new Mobile-over-IP technology (get all the details at: Zer01 Cell Plan) is how it will work with existing phones, ESPECIALLY the iPhone.

According to Zer01 chief executive Ben Piilani:

“We’re kind of against the establishment as far as locking handsets is concerned,” he said. “Within 6-12 months after we launch, we’ll be supporting Android, the jailbroken iPhone and the BlackBerrys so people can use the same devices when switching carriers,” he said.

So, you won’t be able to quite AT&T just yet and use your iPhone with the Zero1 service, but in due time you will.  Of course, you’ll have to ‘unbrick’ or unlock your iPhone to do it, which means Apple’s software updates (which you get for free with your iPhone) will re-lock your phone if you install them and if you DON’T install them, you won’t get the new software.

But for those that would rather struggle with that than be tied to AT&T, you’ll have that option in 6-12 months.
